Our survey of the sensory systems continues as we now turn our attention to the auditory system, the vestibular system, and the chemical sensory systems. As you study this content, notice the similarities and the differences that pertain to the general mechanisms of sensory transduction and the broad organization of the central pathways in each of these sensory systems.

What is the vestibular system? What are the different ways that it contributes to our sense of balance and spatial orientation? What are some of the causes o if I asked you to list your census you would probably mention things like sight or sound or taste but it turns out that we can actually detect a lot more than that one sense that's really important but not often thought about is our vestibular system which is a system that is very important for our sense of balance and spatial orientation and while a lot of information about balance and body position is gained through receptors in our bodies that let us know our limbs are in space it When the vestibular system is not functioning properly, it doesn’t send these signals correctly and can lead to sensory problems, lack of balance, and other issues. Some experts estimate that many people in the modern world lack proper vestibular function due to a deficiency of activities that balance this system. The vestibular system includes the parts of the inner ear and brain that help control balance and eye movements. If the system is damaged by disease, aging, or injury, vestibular disorders can result, and are often associated with one or more of these symptoms, among others: the vestibular system that sense angular acceleration, a change in angular velocity. •Source of our sense of angular motion, “head spinning” in pitch, yaw & roll.
